Veterinarian
Dr. Christa Parrish-Ahrens is our practice owner. She purchased the practice from Dr. Maurice Sweat in August of 2013, which was then Liberty Veterinary Clinic. Liberty Veterinary Clinic previously served the Hinesville community for over 40 years. An alumni of prestigious Auburn University, Christa received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005 and her Bachelor of Science degree in animal and dairy science from the College of Agriculture in 2001.
Christa has been involved heavily with animals her entire life. She grew up on her family’s farm in Alabama, where she helped her father with a small beef cattle operation as well as raised, bred, and showed horses. Christa was actively involved in 4-H and FFA in her youth and participated in English event riding and showing with her Thoroughbreds. Her life dream was to become a veterinarian, and she was bestowed with the honor of receiving the Samuel Upchurch Endowed Scholarship through the College of Agriculture at Auburn University. Her career was then started, and she has loved every moment!
She has been a veterinary clinician and surgeon for over 12 years, with experience in both small and large animal medicine and surgery, and emergency medicine and surgery, and practice management. Under her leadership and direction, achieved AAHA accreditation in the fall of 2014.
Always focused on providing state-of-the-art veterinary medical care for her patients, Christa’s vision for Liberty Animal Clinic is to continue to expand the practice so that we are always able to provide the best and most updated medical care for our community’s pets.
Christa enjoys horseback riding, spending time in the great outdoors and spending time with her husband and three children. She is married to Kristopher Ahrens, a retired U.S. Army Warrant Officer helicopter pilot. Kris and Christa have twins and an older son together. She also has three furry friends that are members of her household: Brynn von Waldburg, a purebred German shepherd; Aria, a Friesian Sporthorse mare; and Mr. Butch, a dog-like kitty cat she’s had since her days at Auburn.

Practice Manager
Jessie is the Office Manager of Liberty Animal Clinic. She began her career in veterinary medicine after she graduated from Long County High School in 2007 and began working as a veterinary assistant with Dr. Maurice Sweat for Liberty Veterinary Clinic. In 2013, Dr. Christa Parrish-Ahrens purchased the practice and pursued her career in management and leadership. Rewarding moments include the building of relationships with the clients and patients throughout the years, which she finds fulfilling. Her dog, Daisy, and cat, Cami is her babies of whom she loves dearly. Jessie is a local resident who grew up in the small town of Ludowici. She enjoys spending time with friends and family and her favorite places to spend her spare time are on the rivers and beaches of Southeast Georgia. Her interests include cooking, fishing, boating, water sports, outdoor activities and camping on the Altamaha River and spending time at the beach of St. Simons Island. Over the many years of being part of the staff and long-term commitment to our hospital, her employment has much more meaning to her. She considers Liberty Animal Clinic “home”.
